Late night Friday

I was visiting the Exile in Portales and he had a nice artsy video with great music and dancing.

Cool tunes, but it got me in the mood for some Perez Prado. When I think of fifties, I always think of the classics like Dino, Frank and Bobby. But Cuban music was really hot back then, and all the musicians wore jackets and ties in Miami, of all places.

I hope you like Mambo, Number Five:

Ah! We were in the same sorta mood last evening, eh? The vid I said I was looking for was by a relatively new artist I heard on Pandora who was playing a mean guitar take on a tango, very similar to the thing I posted.

Perez Prado... my Mom was a big fan. This was the sorta stuff I grew up on.

Pretty much ALL the musicians wore jackets and ties back then. That's one of the reasons I'm nostalgic for the '50s. Srsly.
